About Discord

I am a relatively early user of Discord. I've made my Discord account over 9 years ago and used it extensively for many years.

It was a great platform and I've met people over it, which I am still friends with.

I've also extended the platform using bots. It was great fun and an awesome opportunity to learn more about programming when I didn't know as much about programming as I do today.

But I don't feel like putting effort into Discord's ecosystem is worth it anymore.

Discords focus seems to have shifted from when I started using the platform.

Instead of Discord improving the service and adding features (more input types for modals would be nice!!) Discord seems to be more focussed on adding survailance and advertising.

It is so bad, that I feel like you cannot use the platform without heavy modification of the client. There are ads everywhere, popups, even though I've disabled all possible types of data usage.

Now. I know, that Discord is not a private service and I am not surprised at all, but I am sad. Discord was an unironically good platform when I started using it.

And I must admit, that I just don't feel like adding value to a service, which does not seem to respect me as a user and / or developer.

I'd recommend you to use alternative platforms.
